Lethal Stupidities

ound posted by a fellow known as Wellington: "As Menachem Begin said, Saudi Arabia is not a country, it's a family (and a horrible family at that). This story about the percentage of terrorists in Iraq who are Saudi Arabian, functions as just one more reason why America must move to almost complete energy independence. We need to explore in ANWAR. (And please spare me the environmental concerns. Anwar is the size of West Virginia and less than 1% or it would have to be drilled, and then with the most sophisticated drilling equipment the world has ever seen.) We...

America's Limp Leadership

oes the average Joe Hammerhead seeking clues to what ails his country tis of thee really have a clean shot at figuring out why its limp leadership also appears to be deaf, dumb, and blind in ignoring those rather obvious factors poised to take us down, but I'll take a shot. In short, it appears there are several things hamstringing the United States government in responding to these Islamic thugs commingling in our midst: 1) Saudi money. The Saudis for decades have had a program where any retiring pol who says good things about Saudi Arabia gets nice big fat...

Coal, The New Oil

've heard that diesel fuel can be made from coal. The price would correspond to making diesel from crude oil at $45 a barrel. My source for that number is the Governor of Montana. The US is switching to Europe’s clean diesel standard so this might be the time to do it. Coal diesel and biodiesel might be a good combo. The oil markets could nix this by dropping to $30 again. We would need to place tariffs on oil imports below $50 to protect the domestic investments. The US with $60 a barrel oil is managing well enough. We...

Hope Upon A New Fuel

INOT AIR FORCE BASE, ND—With the wind chill making it seem like 40 below zero, Lt. Col. Daniel Millman said the Air Force picked the right place to test a new fuel. Millman, flying a B-52 bomber in these freezing conditions, helped test a synthetic fuel blend that could be made domestically from coal or natural gas as the Air Force seeks to wean its dependence on foreign crude and defray soaring fuel costs. The cold-weather tests of the fuel, which wrapped up earlier this month, showed it compared well to conventional petroleum-based military aviation fuel, JP-8, Air Force officials...

Inquiries From The Peanut Gallery

HY HAVE OUR LEADERS forsaken us? In this house of mirrors some dub the war against terrorism, why is it that our elected leadership doesn't seem to know the depths our enemies prepare for us, refusing to call the enemy by his real name. Is it possible that our leadership is so thwarted by ignorance and arrogance that the true aggressive nature of the Islamic threat is as veiled from them as is the hair of a Shi'ite woman strolling the streets of Tehran today? It just doesn't seem possible, does it? Let's take the administrations of George Bush and...
