Just Saying No To Capital Concentration

JUDGE VINSON'S INDIVIDUAL MANDATE ruling is seen—properly—as a defeat for ObamaCare and a win for individual freedom. And it is all of that, of course. But there's more. Perhaps almost as pleasing as the affirmation of individual freedom and the dismissal of a government run-society is the smack-down Judge Vinson's ruling gave to the concept of "crony capitalism." And that may be just as important in the long run. After all, no government-run society is even possible without corporatists and crony capitalists eager to jump into the sack with the statists who will design laws to force unwilling customers to...

Power of the People vs. Political Parties

....nothing new under sun. OR THE RECORD, I am not a member of any political party. I am, moreover, repelled by arguments that people should vote for a party’s candidate because . . . he is the party’s candidate. I have no interest serving any party simply for the sake of serving the party. I want best practices principles advanced, whoever, and from whatever party this person should come forth from the nation who supports those principles, but I also remain a pragmatist who considers each decision carefully. Note From Congressman Frank Wolf

This letter arrived today from esteemed Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA-10th District). We very much appreciate his continued advocacy for local safety issues, human rights around the globe, as well as his repeated efforts to inspire the current administration to remember its promise for transparent government, promised by the candidate, and often touted by the new president with little or no change from the business as usual model Americans have come to loathe from both parties. The congressman's report: Dear Friends, ongress is deep into the appropriations season. The House has passed seven of the 12 FY 2010 spending bills, with five...

Mark Warner On Gun Control

It only took a couple of weeks to receive my first reply to an action letter I wrote to several members of the US Congress concerning what appears to be a stealth assault on the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution by the Obama regime... ear Mr. Thy, Thank you for contacting me to share your views on gun control. I appreciate your thoughts on this important issue. I realize that there are very strong opinions on both sides of the debate around Second Amendment rights. I support public policies that ensure the responsible and appropriate use of guns, as...

More Constitutional Murmurings

OME POSTINGS NEAR THE TOP of the thread seemed to convey the notion that the U. S. Constitution is antiquated and should therefore be ignored. Are we so adverse to a Constitutional crisis that we are willing to simply ignore the document altogether? Quite a common viewpoint these days, particularly within the three branches of the Federal Government. The Constitution is nowadays comparable to the British Crown. Theoretically all-powerful, but in reality the monarch is trotted out and curtsied to at the opening of Parliament, then otherwise ignored in matters of substance. We may still follow the Ps and Qs...
