An Old But Good Argument Revisited

The Constitution of the United States of America

OUR US CONSTITUTION IS THE BEST the world has ever seen, and the oldest one still in use. Still, it is far from perfect. The Anti-federalists pointed out many weaknesses and pushed for the Bill of Rights. Imagine where we would be without the Bill of Rights. Still, if you honestly read the Constitution, and study it well, you will find that the Anti-federalists were right. The Constitution put everything in place for the states to be reduced to mere districts. The Civil War was began as the ultimate rejection of this idea.

Since then, the Federal Goverment has encroached upon not only the states, (14th Amendment; 17th Amendment), but even local government (Civil Rights Acts is the prime example of this). A few specific dangers provided by the Anti-federalists include: 1) No check on federal judicial power; 2) No check on the power of the Federal Government due to the "welfare" clause; 3) Complete and unquestionable (by the states) taxing authority given to the Federal Government.

Many believe that the Constitutional Debate was about states rights, but that's not true. Some delegates argued for elimination of the states altogether. Keep in mind the Federalists won one of America's first PR battles by seizing the title of "Federalist" for themselves and leaving the opposition with "Anti-federalist". At the time the word "confederacy" and "federation" meant exactly the same thing. The Federalists were actually Nationalists and the Anti-federalists were the true Federalists. Whatever party or movement comes out of all this present day crisis, if we are ever given another chance at freedom and self-government, we must address the issues pointed out by the Anti-federalists.

Piercing The Political Tick

fingerprint2

Found this sharp stab at political-economical consciousness at the always provocative American Thinker in a few words posted by the self-identified AWARE54397, and from my own current sorry state of economic ruin all I can think to add to the soil is this—Damn. I wish I had written those two paragraphs. The political tick, blood-filled and bulging. Quite a fit description of the body politik...

So let us get on with the rain seeding...

It won't matter if gold and oil are pumped out of the ground in record quantities, there is no recovery, no "rebound". The problem is the same as the Soviets, who despite huge natural resources and a willingness to exploit them much more ruthlessly than we, continued down the road of want, shortage, and economic oblivion. Our problem is political not economic. The political class runs the economy and it is that simple. The political tick is now bigger than the economic dog. Do you think any benefits derived from increased oil production won't be siphoned off by the usual political bandits through the instrument of wealth destruction called government for the enrichment of the favored cronies?

Until the scope and power of government is severely curtailed no amount of wealth will change the worsening economic picture. With more government than we can afford the profit will always go to support it, not us.

Perhaps these also apply:

Mr. Obama is exactly what he has proclaimed he is many times over, and that is a "Citizen of the World"; a Globalist. A Globalist, who is familiar with and identifies more with Muslim culture than Judeo-Christian culture. Those people who refer to themselves as "Citizens of the World", or as "Global Citizens" believe the United Nations should be the sole arbiter for every international solution (i.e. AGW). It is the United Nations Agenda 21 which we are seeing being implemented in this country in a gallop under this administration.

These Globalists are the new NAZI movement except that instead of being nationalists they are internationalists. It is an international socialist movement which embraces the same totalitarian goals which Islamofascists pursue. Both are para-theo-political belief systems and constructs.

The parallel is that the Globalists are the new NAZI Party and the Islamofascists are the new Italian Fascists from WWII. Guess who gets to play the new Jew? The Conservative Constitutionalists, and Judeo-Christians get the role of the European Jew of WWII.

I hope that answered your question. Now have a "rooping" good day.

Just Saying No To Capital Concentration

JUDGE VINSON'S INDIVIDUAL MANDATE ruling is seen—properly—as a defeat for ObamaCare and a win for individual freedom. And it is all of that, of course.

But there's more. Perhaps almost as pleasing as the affirmation of individual freedom and the dismissal of a government run-society is the smack-down Judge Vinson's ruling gave to the concept of "crony capitalism." And that may be just as important in the long run.

After all, no government-run society is even possible without corporatists and crony capitalists eager to jump into the sack with the statists who will design laws to force unwilling customers to those corporations. This is something the statists will do under threat of sending IRS and other bureaucrats to harass every unwilling business or individual. You do remember that it was sixteen thousand new IRS agents—not sixteen thousand new doctors—that ObamaCare has plans to employ, don't you?

Gee, you think maybe ObamaCare was about control and not health care?

And you can believe that the resulting threats from bureaucrats are indeed scary to those entrepreneurs who put it all on the line daily. Business owners successful enough to be targets—yet too small to be crony capitalists with Beltway connections—know full well that unelected and unaccountable and incompetent bureaucrats can wipe out a life's work with mindless and asinine regulations and rulings. You know, like ObamaCare. Or OSHA. Or the EPA. Or an EEOC ruling. And so on.

Why the Media Blackout On New Energy Breakthrough?

CHEAPER ELECTRICITY OUGHT TO BE a topic of interest, you might think. But because the media is pushing uneconomical "green" technologies, you probably haven't heard of the discoveries which promise to make electricity generated by natural gas cheaper.

Since 1992 the U.S. DOE has "invested" hundreds of millions of dollars into clean-burning, efficient "combined cycle" natural gas turbines made by GE and Westinghouse to power dynamos in central electricity generation stations.

GE? I saw these massive generators being built for South American installations in person at a General Electric Jacksonville, FL plant. A very clever highschool friend whom I was visiting at the time, built these awesome generators. I was impressed. Hamfisted and dreamy-eyed myself, I'd always considered Freddy Wilson a bona fide mechanical genius (after his dad), and now he was clearly proving how far he had come since taking apart every nut, bolt, spring, belt, and thingamajig rusted stubbornly into a 1960s AMC Rambler to then scrape, clean, drill, bore out, reshear, repaint, and finally reassemble a shiny spanking hot muscle rider whose poor white walls only lasted three, four weeks, month after month, until he would eagerly move on to another mechanical post-scholastic feat. He took a job at the Jax plant right out of highschool. Twenty years later he was still there, shop steward, I heard. With the woes and wranglings GE has experienced the last decade or so I would guess my friend has retired or has started a second career, tweaking some knuckle-skinning machine I'd wager.

But why is GE and Jeffrey Immelt now siding up to wind mills and disregarding this proven, more robust, and yes, clean technology?

The American Sisyphus

It's uncanny that both US political parties use the very same descriptions (right up to the same exact words) to incite fear among their own constituents in an attempt to soil their political opposition. Both fear the same outcomes, and accuse the other of being fearmongers. Both claim the same desires, and accuse the other of systematically thwarting the honest fulfillment and judicious harvest of their own spirit-filled policies. This money-charged he said, she said plants "hope in change" among the hapless voter classes every year or two, but the Sisyphian task of governing a critical mass remains critical as long as there are people who refuse to govern themselves at least as critically as they govern others.

Here is one liberal feminist's rather opaque outlook:

sisyphus

Sisyphus

SUSIE GAVE THE STANDARD ANSWERS about what can be done. Show up at a congressman’s office en masse, hang out in front of the restaurant where he/she and friends have lunch, throw a tent city or two and call the local paper or TV station about it. Butcha know, I don’t think that’s going to work anymore and as one of them said: the right has the biggest megaphones and they simply won’t report it.

The right knows their voters. They motivate their voters to vote by romanticizing the fetus, by appealing to their religiosity. If bad things happen to other people, it’s because they weren’t as pious and good as the typical Fox News viewer. That same religiosity prevents the religious conservative from doing too much to help the poor by contacting their representatives and demanding action. It’s because there is so much evil and bad and pain in the world that mankind does not have the capacity to clean it up. Only God does. So, we need to just wait for Jesus to come back, which should be any day now. If you’ve ever wondered what the apocalyptic messaging in right wing propaganda has to do with anything, there’s the reason. It’s to keep the older conservative voter who sees disturbing things from taking any action.

If Susie wants to know what to do, she is going to have to target these viewers to get involved. One thing that temporarily woke people up was the sight of so many people suffering in the wake of Katrina in New Orleans. Which means that the news machine will be very careful to never do that again. So, if you can’t bring the news to the people, maybe you have to bring the people to the news.

Don’t isolate your older, more conservative relatives. Tell them what’s going on because you’ve seen it personally. Tell them what is happening to your unemployed friends. If they ask why they’re not willing to relocate, tell them the truth. There are no jobs. Anywhere. Be harsh with them. They won’t want to see you. But they’ll call and ask why you haven’t come to visit. Tell them you’re trying to help your friends—who are unemployed and that they just don’t get it. They’ll go on about how God is the only one who can clean this mess up. Tell them that’s bullshit and Jesus wouldn’t want them to ignore the poor. If they tell you that you’re friends did something wrong, tell them the only thing they did wrong was being born in the wrong part of the 20th century. If they say, yes, it’s true, the older generation has it good in comparison, tell them, great! We’re moving in with you. With the bird. And the kid who likes to play Edith Piaf songs all. the. time. and refuses to speak to you in anything but French and eats like there’s no tomorrow. When they express some hesitation about that, tell them to turn off the fricking TV news.

As for Susie, I think she has a future in broadcasting but she really has to ditch her propensity to glom onto left wing memes. I’m not saying stop being liberal. I’m saying stop letting the left do your thinking. On one broadcast a couple of months ago, I think Athenae was on, they got so frustrated with it all that they want to just ditch everything and go rustic, which is great if you have no dependents. But in some respects, it reminds me of the older religious person’s decision to just stay in the house away from the evil men and sexual predators until Jesus comes back. You can’t run away from the world’s problems when they seem insurmountable. If you do that, the bad guys win. They want people to feel helpless. Learned helplessness is their goal.

The only way to win is to get together and fight back. And if Susie hasn’t figured this out yet, the left’s support of Obama in 2008 has resulted in thousands of sparkling shards of leftiness with the incapacity to reform itself. I keep appealing to people like Susie to stop blowing us off and join with us and let’s do something together. But the left hasn’t given up on the stuff that doesn’t resonate with their potential allies who work for the big corporations the left condemns. It’s incomprehensible to me that for all the intelligence the left claims it has that it hasn’t figured out yet that the corporations are not the ogres here. It’s the rulemakers they help elect. If the rules weren’t bent or destroyed, the corporations would go back to playing by the rules and merely scheming like grinches instead of running around causing havoc like Thing 1 and Thing 2. Then there are people like us who voted for Hillary and are still personas non grata.

We’re always going to think Obama was the wrong guy for the moment. But why would the left cut off half of its strength if it really want to make a change? Let me ask you this, Susie, why haven’t you asked any of US on your show yet? Not that we can’t host our own shows but that’s hardly togetherness, is it?

Now here we get to the real concession in drawing the line where right greets left, they shake hands, fold their cards, then settle back into their routines for another round of the Sisyphus game from which we are never expected to resist:

The left’s obsession with perfection mirrors the right’s eschatological fervor. Neither one addresses the causes and concerns of people in the middle who still bitterly cling to their FDR era programs with track records of success for those who participate. Both sides insist that if they can’t have everything their way, no one will get anything at all.  In this respect, the left does as much damage to its cause as the right does with its huge megaphones.

If you want to know why no one hears your cries, it’s because you haven’t joined with other voices. And the men in charge, and it’s ALWAYS men, like it that way. Power is the ultimate drug and no one is going to wrest it from them without a fight. As long as the left remains broken, Susie and her tent cities are no threat to the power brokers.
