Nanny State Safety Rap

by Northerngirl WE OFTEN REFLECT ON THE FACT that our children will never know the fearlessness and sense of safety with which we grew up. Our country was a safe place, and we were taught in school that we were the most blessed nation and best nation on earth. Oh sure, we survived cars without seat belts and bikes without helmets and even the flu without flu shots. Now we have to worry about the government keeping us safe from ourselves by regulating our garden and our farm animals, closing down our area's artesian wells... and yet we have to...

Offensive To Aggressive Leftists

"I have a habit of comparing the phraseology of communiqués, one with another across the years, and noting a certain similarity of words, a certain similarity of optimism in the reports which followed the summit meetings and a certain similarity in the lack of practical results during the ensuing years."—Margaret Thatcher "Politics: A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage."—Ambrose Bierce WITH REGARD TO THE RECENT UPROAR in Davenport, Iowa, where the town fathers in their mid-western wisdom decided to rename the traditional Good Friday to Spring Holiday, thus causing...

The Jihad Decade Cometh, Wait Wait

As news cycles come and go talking of the same old same old, it seems as if the gloves are still off as we barrel toward Campaign 2010 in full repetitive inconsequential fluff. From the always rock solid American Thinker: S WE LOOK BACK on the past ten years, it is clear that we are now entering a post-American decade. How did it all go so wrong so quickly? The year 2000 kicked off with the Democrat ruse of a "stolen election"—this from the racketeering party wogs of ACORN—but thankfully, it was not stolen, after all. George W. Bush took...

VA Congressman Frank Wolf Busy On The Job

EVEN ATTEMPTS BY U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10) to have the U.S. State Department initiate an investigation into controversial textbooks used at two Islamic schools in Northern Virginia have gone unanswered. In his seventh letter in less than a year to the department, Wolf calls continued inaction on the part of the department "inexcusable." The Islamic Saudi Academy, or ISA, has close ties with the government of Saudi Arabia, which Wolf says charges the State Department with overseeing any investigation of it, under the Foreign Missions Act of 1982. "The Saudi ambassador is the head of the school," said Wolf....

The New Case Against Immigration

THERE IS ALWAYS MORE from where this came. While the Left postures to bury America in some international assault on the integrity of nations and national borders, I wonder how long it would take for me to become a nuisance in their own well-tended backyards. Let's get real, and stay real folks. The scruffy "march against globalism" folks feign outrage when it comes to international commodities (of this or that but not ev'ry decade) have no problem allowing the unmanaged influx of undocumented or unwanted strangers to scuttle into our broken system instead of staying home and making the best...
