THIS MEANS AMERICANS COULD BE declared domestic terrorists and thrown into a military brig with no recourse whatsoever. Given that the Department of Homeland Security has characterized behavior such as buying gold, owning guns, using a watch or binoculars, donating to charity, using the telephone or email to find information, using cash, and all manner of mundane behaviors as potential indicators of domestic terrorism, such a provision would be wide open to abuse.
The Senate is set to vote on a bill today that would define the whole of the United States as a “battlefield” and allow the U.S. Military to arrest American citizens in their own back yard without charge or trial.
“The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this presidentand every future presidentthe power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself,” writes Chris Anders of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office.
Should one take the time to fully negotiate the links and rather frightening data provided in this article, the information whether correct or filled with errors should stand one's hair on ends. But this moment is one in which we can ponder the ideas presented to us, one by one. Because these by God, are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Every citizen of these sovereign states must never forget that we have inherited a magnificent federal constitution which protects us, and even encourages us to stand boldly in the marketplace of ideas and insist that the truth be made manifest, no matter how difficult the task or the subject matter, as distinguishable from the reams of misinformation and disinformation earnestly flying off the tongues and keyboards and every media type of budding statesman, push button pundit, working class hack or back alley scoundrel available to us nearly twenty-two decades after this founding document was first ratified.
Whether we burden ourselves with falsehoods or monitor our freedoms by the lights of our liberty, we each are endowed with these natural rights of engagement in a free and prosperous society...
THE SECOND AMENDMENT SECURES FOR the individual a right to keep and bear arms to preserve the security of a free state. A plain and solid reading of the language our forefathers fought and died many of them to leave us as our greatest American inheritance is not solely a restriction on the federal government. It is a restriction on ALL governing bodies. As one will note upon reading it, there are no local, state, federal or UN qualifiers. This amendment fears and contradicts ALL levels of government.
"A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Arguments about the Second Amendment are always exercises in etymology, and turn on lynchpin definitions of a single word or another. We should point out that the Federalist concepts would only allow the phrase "well regulated" to mean, and thus it still means simplyprepared and quickly ready for action, not to be confused with some knee jerk variation of half-blind power-seizing heavily controlled by a government deconstuctionist's impulsive reworking of the term. What would be the point in that?
A "free" state standing is the form of government established by the Constitution as it was originally written and intended. If not, pray tell, what on earth were they trying to establish? Many have noted that the Second Amendment makes itself plain as to where the right to keep and bear arms resides: It is a right of "the people."
We must agree. For we notice that the writers acknowledged three different entities when describing to each the powers that are called into existence with the ratification of the founding document of this nation.
The entity designated the states is not the primary issue in the Second Amendment. Enumerated elsewhere are the powers of the states. The same holds true for any specified powers the governing bodies of the United States of America are called to exercise. So let's be clear. This specific power of the right to bear arms is given specifically to The People all within the sensibilities informing the federalist republic the founders struggled to invent.
Man is bestowed by God the Creator of Natural Rights the primary right to defend himself, his family, and his community against aggression to the quiet enjoyment of these rights, even against an unjust government, foreign or domestic, as it infringes his own natural liberty. And when utilized as an effective tool in the sporting conservation of natural wildlife while providing food for the tables of tens of thousands of numbers of families, it defies common sense to consider abridging this very sacred right, a right when infringed is the very definition of social oppression.
The people of this country are guaranteed quiet enjoyment of their liberties with the responsibilities they command. We are taught, or at least, we once were taught never to sacrifice liberty for some temporary security, for he who does deserves neither liberty nor security.
The Second Amendment reinforces the principle the Declaration of Independence embraces wherein it was recognized that We the People have the God-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and the right to resist by a show of arms when specifically an oppressive government has breeched the peaceful call of liberty incumbent to a Free State.
All manners of public airing and effective redress of grievances become ineffective or unavailable in the case of an immediate threat against our life, liberty, and property, regardless of what Karl Marx or Mao Tze-Tong believed. This is the argument in a nutshell. One does not have a viable "right" unless he also has the ability to protect and defend it. We must agree, emphatically, as Americans, as rationalists, as seekers of libertythe anti-constitutionists of whatever political persuasion have no standing until a greater power arrives.
Doesn't the recent Norwegian tragedy with all its ready-made hyperbole and suspicious evidence of the killer's ideological pedigree prove our point, all the more plainly, one more time. Norway's population has no access to guns, not even the police. And yet...
The following matches my own speculative explanation for why this president cannot produce a valid birth certificate, even on his second attempt. For more interesting commentary on this topic please, not only click the link below, but read the comments section with a critical mind. We were particularly intrigued by the one about the Soviet Festival babies submitted by Erica Brigid and the piece about the Manufactured Man...
IHE PRESUMED STORY OF OBAMA'S birth sounds like a "Seduced and Abandoned" epic. In fact, his birth and early upbringing are not that different from thousands of such incidents that transpire on a daily basis. So it's all a myth that is being pulled down, stone by stone! Obama's father was not a class act but Obama mythologizes him in his book.
The Manchurian Candidate jumps right out of the Silver Screen into the White House.
But the fault does not lie with the mythologizers but with a vapid, Hollywood worship of false idols by a frighteningly ignorant American public. I think our age will be known as the Age of Gigantic Scams. First, Bernie Madoff bilking thousands, then Al Gore fattening his bank account with a faux myth about Global Warming, and then Obama with the biggest scam of them all, winning the presidency by exploiting the race guilt feelings of millions of Americans!
MISSOURI doesn't spring to mind when one thoughtfully ponders the American Islamic question, but the state is at the forefront of legislative action in making sure American law is the ONLY LAW that will rule its citizens. In Jefferson City, the Missouri House passed a bill that they hope will work in prohibiting state courts from using or recognizing Sharia law. The bill passed the Missouri House Wednesday on a 102-51 vote.
The legislation, which was sponsored by state Rep. Paul Curtman, R-Pacific, bans Missouri courts from utilizing foreign law or legal code in any ruling. Although it never specifically mentions the words “Sharia” or “Islam," Wednesday’s debate focused almost exclusively on Sharia law, which is the religious law of Islam.
“This bill is not all about Sharia Law,” Curtman said. "It’s Sharia Law, French law, Dutch law or anything else.”
Missouri's statehouse went red in the 2010 elections, with the exception of Governor Jay Nixon (D) whose term had not expired. Nixon said he won't sign this bill, but Republicans have a super-majority now so we don't care.
There was recently a row here over a woman wearing the burqa, hijab, and niqab in a store. The manager got fired over it, and a local radio host castigated the manager over disrepecting "religious garb." He used only the term 'burqa' to describe her dress.
The woman's husband agreed with the radio fool that nuns would also be targeted. But nuns don't cover their faces. Right now Republicans are trying to pass a picture ID for voting. This is part of it.
This incident occured in Manchester, MO, a suburb where the Dar al-Islam mosque is located. Every Friday is Halloween there now and stores are tired of these masked, fully covered creatures billowing in. The store manager said he could not verify her identity for a purchase, and HE WAS FIRED.
And to echo what has been said rather eloquently by us and many others: We believe that our Constitution and laws exist to protect this nationthey do not grant rights and privileges to enemies in wartime. In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.
Good Bye America
Once something has been labeled a religion, no American will question, challenge or think objectively about it. Call yourself a religion and Americans turn into zombies letting you do anything you want, even “kill them”. The greatest military power in world history lays supine, lily livered, gutless and enfeebled, and it’s all because we have wrongly given Islam the protected status of a RELIGION. “Good Bye America it’s been nice knowin ya” Surely, this is the bleakest hour in American history when our nation cannot tell friend from foe, nor religion from invader.
There is no doubt that we Americans suffer from a collective mental illness, mental block, emotional imbalance, and psychological disorder, precipitated every time we hear the word religion. Let’s call it schizo-religionitis. Mention the word “religion” and we immediately become deaf, dumb and blind, suspending all rational thought and common sense. Here is the childishly insane logic Americans apply to their criteria for a religion:
Apple juice is a liquid and drinking a cup is good for you; therefore drinking a cup of hemlock must be good for you because it is also a liquid.
Read it all here, please. Strengthen yourself and shepherd your family. Instill in the them the original spirit of America, and know that we can work this mess out if we each give everything we got to save our nation from its enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Remember that individual Muslims are human beings trapped under a pernicious spell of evil and death, even as the beautiful ones smile, and the dogged ones snear. But also know that plotting beneath both facades is the raging lion of Islam, not radical Islam, but simply Islam.
Islam is the enemy, just as Monarchism, Communism, Fascism, and Naziism were our enemies. Accordingly, just as not all Japanese or Germans or Italians, or Russians or American Southerners were drunk on power and aggression, continental Americans took precautions, and defeated them each in their turn. Now comes Islam and do not be fooled for Islam is no pushover.
The political nature of Mohammedism has been practicing its dark arts of total aggression over the human spirit for 1400 years, having destroyed and consumed numerous cultures large and small along the way, and for the past sixty years has had its eyes set on the West with no intention of playing nice, but gripped with a lust for world domination in mind all along since its inception. This is not conjecture, but our own immediate future.
Therefore we must insist that it is now Islam's turn to be defeated, if possible destroyed, stripped of its power, redeemed for its humanity, and its survivors allowed to nurse and heal in proper countenance so that they may return to the promises we all seek, but can rarely find in our struggle against each other after being poisoned with words.
ORWELL LIVES! EVEN AS EGYPT'S GOVERNMENT attempts to crackdown on street protests by shutting down internet and mobile phone services, the US is preparing to reintroduce a bill that could be used to shut down the Internet, a kill switch. The legislation, which would grant presidential powers to seize control of and even shut down the internet, would soon be reintroduced to a Senate committee, Wired.com reported. It was initially introduced last year but expired with a new Congress. The proposed legislation, introduced into the US Senate by independent senator Joe Lieberman, who is chairman of the US Homeland Security committee, seeks to grant the President broad emergency powers over the internet in times of national emergency.
Last year, Lieberman argued the bill was necessary to "preserve those networks and assets and our country and protect our people". He said that, for all its allure, the internet could also be a "dangerous place with electronic pipelines that run directly into everything from our personal bank accounts to key infrastructure to government and industrial secrets". US economic security, national security and public safety were now all at risk from new kinds of enemies, including "cyber warriors, cyber spies, cyber terrorists and cyber criminals". Although the bill was targetted at protecting the US, many have said it would also affect other nations.
According to Renesys, a US Internet monitoring company, Egypt's four main internet service providers cut off international access to their customers in a near simultaneous move at 2234 GMT on Thursday. Around 23 million Egyptians have either regular or occasional access to the internet, according to official figures, more than a quarter of the population.
One of Australia's top communications experts, University of Sydney associate professor Bjorn Landfeldt, had previously railed against the idea, saying shutting down the internet would "inflict an enormous damage on the entire world". He said it would be like giving a single country "the right to poison the atmosphere, or poison the ocean".
The scale of Egypt's crackdown on the internet and mobile phones amid deadly protests against the rule of President Hosni Mubarak is unprecedented in the history of the web, experts have said. US President Barack Obama, social networking sites and rights groups around the world all condemned the moves by Egyptian authorities to stop activists using mobile phones and cyber technology to organise rallies. "It's a first in the history of the internet," Rik Ferguson, an expert for Trend Micro, the world's third biggest computer security firm, said.
Julien Coulon, co-founder of Cedexis, a French internet performance monitoring and traffic management system, added: "In 24 hours we have lost 97 per cent of Egyptian internet traffic". Despite this, many Egyptians are finding ways to get access, some using international telephone numbers to gain access to dial-up internet. "In an action unprecedented in internet history, the Egyptian government appears to have ordered service providers to shut down all international connections to the internet," James Cowie of Renesys said in a blog post.
SEVEN ATTEMPTS BY U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10) to have the U.S. State Department initiate an investigation into controversial textbooks used at two Islamic schools in Northern Virginia have gone unanswered. In his seventh letter in less than a year to the department, Wolf calls continued inaction on the part of the department "inexcusable."
The Islamic Saudi Academy, or ISA, has close ties with the government of Saudi Arabia, which Wolf says charges the State Department with overseeing any investigation of it, under the Foreign Missions Act of 1982.
"The Saudi ambassador is the head of the school," said Wolf.
ISA has two campuses. One in Alexandria on Richmond Highway, and another in Fairfax on Pope's Head Road. Material in some textbooks used at both campuses has been called "intolerant" and "shocking" by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, and by Ali Al-Ahmed, director of the The Institute for Gulf Affairs, a nonpartisan Washington, D.C., think tank.
According to Al-Ahmed, one example is a 10th-grade work that "indulges in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories." Wolf said, "Textbooks used in Saudi Arabia are very anti-Semitic, anti-Christian and pretty hate-filled." While some textbook material has reportedly been changed due to pressure from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, Wolf says an independent investigation of the textbooks and their overarching use at the academy has yet to be initiated.
"We're just asking that there be an independent evaluation by someone that's not paid by the Saudi Academy," Wolf said.
In a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on March 12, Wolf wrote: "According to AP, 'while the Islamic Saudi Academy deleted some of the most contentious passages from the texts, copies provided to the Associated Press show that enough sensitive material remains to fuel critics who claim the books show intolerance toward those who do not follow strict interpretations of Islam.'"
The 10th District, stretching from McLean to Winchester, is home to some of the world’s leading Internet and high-tech companies, thousands of federal employees and other professionals.
Agriculture and manufacturing also are an important part of the 10th District’s economy. Clarke and Frederick counties in the western end of the District produce about half of Virginia’s apples and peaches; Henkel-Harris furniture and Rubbermaid have large manufacturing plants in the District.
Tourism is important, too. Civil War battlefields, including Manassas National Battlefield Park, dot the 10th District. The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District includes Fisher's Hill/Cedar Creek; Cross Keys/Port Republic; Second Winchester; Third Winchester/Opequon, and New Market. One of the nation’s newest national parks is also in the 10th District. Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Park, established in 2002, will serve as a model for future parks because private landowners and organizations will continue to live, work and operate within the park's borders. Other major tourism draws are Skyline Drive in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Shenandoah River, and the Appalachian Trail.
THE CURRENT FINANCIAL CRISIS is very easily pinned down to a series of legislative acts. Follow the money. Learn just who is the culprit here. And here's a postscript to the previous entry concerning the Missouri law enforcement "Truth Squad" hot on free speech. The Republican governor of Missouri, Matt Blunt has issued a scathing rebuttal to Obama's campaign:
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts—not a free society.”
No word yet on what the governor has in mind for these two named prosecutors who have signed on to this travesty. Meanwhile I have my own mortgage crisis fall into my lap, just as I was making a move in my painting career.
