FACE OFF, and let the American presidential sweepstakes begin. Mortal cracks are showing both stateside and abroad everywhere this ship of state blows and it appears that the once unsinkable Obama administration is taking on more water than it or its lap dog media can scoop out. Lots of it. The Left, particularly the Far Left, is turning against Barack Obama in droves. During this latest grumbling spate we hear from 1999 Pulitzer Prize winner Maureen Dowd, followed by the leading voice at Code Pink. No doubt, many of us independents are delighted in knowing that the recent shift showing the Big Man on Campus is beginning to falter politically, at least matches his loss of appetite for hands on governing.
Obama’s winning was like a moon landing. You noticed it more when you’re overseas. America did it again, Brazilians told me. The world can elect women presidents. It’s happened before. But what advanced economy has ever elected a black man? None. Not Europe. Not Latin America. Not Australia. Not even close. They’re not even on the ballot. Only in America. What a country.
“Why should the public believe what the Obama administration says about the people being assassinated by drones? Especially since, as we learn in the New York Times, the administration came up with a semantic solution to keep the civilian death toll to a minimum: simply count all military-age males in a strike zone as combatants. The rationale, reminiscent of George Zimmerman’s justification for shooting Trayvon Martin, is that “people in an area of known terrorist activity, or found with a top Qaeda operative, are probably up to no good.” Talk about profiling! At least when George Bush threw suspected militants into Guantanamo their lives were spared.”
Jolly Nick Cohen has said it so well, I won't even begin to add to his eloquent insights into the confusion of the Old Left with the New Reality in his bruising piece originally reposted here on Oct 24, 2006, called: "Where Have All The Pacifists Gone?" Now if only the Left will crumble into dust and blow away. Here are the first few paragraphs of the right persuasive piece.
BEFORE YOU GO TO A LEFT-WING meeting, brace yourself for the likelihood that everyone you meet in the hall will be standing on their heads. Do not be surprised to see communists supporting fascism, feminists throwing their arms around misogynists and liberals volunteering to be advocates for tyranny. It’s been like this since 9/11 turned the world upside down, and the temptation for a journalist is to play the cynical reporter and pretend to be unshockable. I try my best to be a hard man, but the shocks keep on coming. Take the fates of two venerable left-wing institutions, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and Searchlight.
For 18 months I’ve had CND workers telling me how they have been forced out by the same people who disgraced the anti-war movement – the Socialist Workers Party, Ken Livingstone’s homeboys from Socialist Action, the Jeremy Corbyn wing of the Labour Party . . . the friends of the indefatigable George Galloway, in short. I couldn’t see how to write about it. How could I prove that they were victims of a political purge rather than guilty of poor performance? In any case, there was always an element of a Quaker-communist alliance about the old CND, and the ideas it produced weren’t always wrong. CND’s policy of unilateral nuclear disarmament was political poison for Labour because it was so clearly in the interests of the Soviet Union, but CND had a second argument that was truer than its legions of critics in the 1980s admitted. Nuclear power breeds nuclear weapons and nuclear weapons breed more nuclear weapons, CND’s argument ran. Unless proliferation stops, they will get into the hands of men who are prepared to use them.
That was then. Anyone who now believes CND is as much against proliferation as for unilateral disarmament would have been surprised by this autumn’s annual conference. Among the guests was the startling figure of Dr Seyed Mohammad Hossein Adeli, the then Iranian ambassador. Iran is building the nuclear power stations CND once protested against – an odd project for a country with one of the largest reserves of oil in the world. Not only the US government but the United Nations and the European Union suspect the Islamic Republic wants the bomb. The obvious course for those sincere about nuclear disarmament is to oppose Tehran as vigorously as they oppose a replacement for Trident. But there’s the rub. Standing by its principles would, if only for a moment, have put CND on the same side as George W Bush and Tony Blair, and that would never do.
Betrayal has defined the liberal left since Iraq because anti-Americans find their comrades in the Kurdish socialist movement or the Iraqi Communist Party or Arab liberal parties an embarrassment and cannot stick by them or even acknowledge their existence. Given that record, I guess it was inevitable that CND, whose governing council is stuffed with people who call themselves “socialists”, “workers” and “communists”, would take the next step and betray the Iranian left.
IN THE WEST THERE ARE NO organized groups that will side with Muslims or organized groups that will oppose Islam. No such groups exist at the moment. The only organised group at the moment are Muslims, organised around the mosques. It was instructional to see Muslim gangs from London driving the distance to Windsor to help their brothers.
Leaving America aside for the moment, consider what will happen if right wing parties like the BNP and UKIP in Great Britain or the DVU and NPD in Germany take power and start getting really tough with Muslims. Muslims will not sit back and take it. What if Denmark and other tough-minded European nationals finally rise up and take a stand against the destruction of their cultural heritage by the steady invasion of outsiders who appear to be on the move not just in the West, but globally, just as their mullahs have instructed them to do?
In all likelihood, mimicking the civil unrest in France last year, these already radicalized agitators will quickly resort to bombings and shootings to register their demands for more cultural appeasementsthey are preparing for this type of warfare, for they know that it is how the Jihad is carried into susceptible foreign lands where they are easily outnumbered. Westerners will continue to act surprised, confused, accommodating and fearing confrontation, will choose to leave the matter to the authorities. The left-wing media will muddy the situation with its blind allegience to the foreign and ever slowly will the population decide on a tactic and which side to support.
Some will decide that fighting against these Muslim insurgencies is the best way to defend freedom, tolerance and democracy, and others will decide those same virtues are best defended by supporting the underdogsMuslims, who invariably will be stressing that they are being victimized.
Note how quickly the West acquiesced to the lies of Izetbegovic and the KLA. The West, a slow learner with a genuine drive for cultural inclusion, is now dealing with the result a thirty year flood of Muslim immigration. The Muslim agenda will be less easier to dodge, as many Muslims are now born and brought up in Western cultures, speak the language fluently and have learned how to exploit the local mores.
That is why none should wish a civil war. The thing when it comes will be messy. Predicting the outcome of war is difficult, particularly if it is a civil warthere are far too many variables.
Except for the part where the Jews of pre-Nazi Germany weren't rioting or blowing things up. And how they never tried to impose their religious law on the larger populace. And how they had no problem with free speech or pluralism. Except for that.
Here's a report from a young soldier who served in Ireland with the Queen's Lancs. Having once patrolled UK streets with an SA80, he had this to say:
"It's not too far-fetched to imagine a future Tory government that would not rule out putting troops on the streets of London or Bradford, if the Muslims are allowed to plunge the country into ghettos of violent insurgency. It was not long ago that the SAS was heavily involved in Ireland. If a Prime Minister as recent as Thatcher was able to deploy the SAS on UK streets then why would a future center right leader feel unable to deploy the same force in defense of the homeland?
"There does seem to be an assumption that the left wing lunacy will continue unabated unless it is replaced by a far right monster that will tear up the country in a frenzy of foreigner hate. But I don't think that as to be the case. The Tories are in limbo at the moment. They pledged to give soldiers tax relief and Labour stole their idea. I am sure that they meant for Labour to steal that idea but it does illustrate the futility of making firm policies for labour to attack for another two years. But the Tories are in a good position. They are ahead in the polls and the press has stopped ignoring them and are now lambasting them for not giving enough policy meat for the papers to chew on."
And while apologists from the Left and Muslims themselves plead innocense, news stories are beginning to surface that paint todays's Muslims as pre-WWI Jews, suggesting that any protectionism by Westerners is simply a reflection of 20th century fascism except that the Jews have been replaced by the Muslims and that eventually the Muslims of Europe need to organise and fight back before they land up in the twenty-first century equivalent of concentration camps and a new holocaust begins.
Others take exception to the characterization of their honest desires to protect their homelands from hateful invasion, claiming, "Except for the part where the Jews of pre-Nazi Germany weren't rioting or blowing things up. And how they never tried to impose their religious law on the larger populace. And how they had no problem with free speech or pluralism. Except for that. Wasn't a crowd of Muslims protesting in downtown London just the other day at Westminster Cathedral clamouring, "Rome Will Fall! Rome Will Fall!"
Face it. Conservative DNA is patriotic and when the thief is at the door, most Westerners become conservatives.
ON THE TIN PLATED HEELS OF AN ANNOUNCEMENT, surprising many, by British prime minister Tony Blair that the country needed to debate the impact of Islam on British soil and modernism, I just watched an interesting report on CNN. They showed a large gathering of Muslims protesting outside a prominent Catholic church in London. They were protesting against the Pope. How long has this churlish tantrum been going on now, two, three weeks?
The Muslims were screaming obligatory death threats against anyone who dared speak out against their ruthless prophet or their Allah, carrying signs reading "Islam will defeat Rome."
Another scrawled placard read: Bush, Blair and the Pope = Evil Trinity
and more of the usual rhetoric that is finally becoming recognized as the common political signature of Muslims spanning across the globe thanks to the latest wave of Islamic ascendency.
What struck me about this report is that they actually showed a few outraged British citizens who were brave enough to briefly say to hell with political correctness in order to argue with some of them. One man said: "Could you just imagine if WE were to protest and threaten like this, and in front of a mosque? Oh no, that would not be tolerated".
No, it wouldn't. We would have our heads cut off. Perhaps Britain will shake a leg, and imagine itself proper to the task in making a good debate after all.

WHILE WHIZZING AROUND THE HORN of history one fine day, we bowed to the enemy and accepted his version of events against the backdrop of our own. From Lorraine, France we read this:
"Our stupid politicians try their best to find any self-deprecating "solution" on tap to deal with the shinola they created in Eurabia: massive Muslim immigration to give companies low-paid labours and whom numerous children are now "les arrogants" and behave like wolves in accordance with Islam."
Last Sunday, I met an a gentle octogenarian in the figures exhibition in Luneville. He was retired and a really nice person who was exhibiting the range of wonderful wood models of Napoleonic artillery and logistical devices he skillfully manufactures as a leisure pursuit. We spoke about Islam and the sad prospect of Eurabia. This man said he had been a prisoner in concentration camp during WWII and spent a few years in Algeria after WWII.
He told me that the Europeans living in Algeria used to say, "If you put one Muslim and one Christian in a boiling pot and let them cook for a while, you will notice that their flesh and blood will not mix." He told me that the Muslims had a saying regarding the Christians. "If you behave like a wolf against me, I, as a Muslim will fake like the sheep, but if you behave like a sheep, I as a Muslim will be the wolf."
He told me : "I should not say this because I spent some time as a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp , but if politicians go on betraying us like they do, we will regret Hitler, and European countries will need a new dictators to clean up all the mess."
Stupid politicians should listen to old-experienced average day people. However, on the upbeat side of things, thanks to Islam's miscalculations we now have almost a million combat vets just from the current fight. Many who are quite skilled at hunting muslims. We have been fighting long enough that many have completed their tours and have re-entered the job market and schools, while some are entering politics. I think two groups are in trouble, the Muslims and the dhimmi liberals.
Well said, Lorraine France. If only letting the Muslims win would save our skins or our souls. Neither is possible, if you look at the stats, Inside baseball stuff, not the chaff of pundits on the take with a livelihood to protect. While whizzing around the horn of history one fine day, I saw that war is as much a task of mankind as is counting the costs of avoiding one.
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert.
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Of course Andrew Breitbart, an American patriot extraordinaire, is worthy of all the words, those of favor and those of disgust hurled at him as a political man with drawn digit in the sand, before and after his life ended so suddenly, unexpectedly, mysteriously, tragically, unspectacularly just after midnight last Thursday as he was walking near his home. He collapsed, and at 43, still a young man, he was gone.
We knew him through his untiring investigative journalism, his tough stances against the unhinged Left and against who and what he considered violent, seditious, determined enemies of the the state in many cases, but certainly enemies of the people, the people who still believe in constitutional loyalty, liberty, justice, courage, responsibility, and the American way. Protection from the government and the forces of the mob. But I'll step aside and let his friend, Robert Spencer share his version of Andrew Breitbart...
AMONG THE MANY THINGS that made Andrew Breitbart a great man was that he was not playing defense. So many, many times I have been speaking at anti-jihad events and heard other speakers saying, "We are not racists, we are not bigots, we are not Islamophobes..." We have allowed the jihadists and Islamic supremacists, and their Leftist allies, to put us on the defensive. We're always apologizing, tacitly accepting their narrative and responding to them in the parameters they set up. Even worse, many even among the anti-jihadists eagerly throw their colleagues under the busthose colleagues whom the Left and the Islamic supremacists have started to zero in on. They're the ones we should be standing up for the most resolutely, for they are drawing fire because they are effective.
Instead of bowing and scraping to the Islamic supremacists and feebly protesting that we're not really racists and hatemongers and all the other calumnies and canards they throw at us, we should be taking the fight to them, and standing up and saying, "You are fronting for the most oppressive ideology on the face of the earth. You are fronting for evil. You are carrying water and running interference for the denial of free speech, the denial of the freedom of conscience, the institutionalized oppression of women, the subjugation of non-Muslims, and worse. You're fronting for stonings, amputations, the murder of apostates, the treatment of women as possessions of men, the madness and senseless violence that we see in this furor over the Qur'an-burnings, and more. You shout us down on campuses and do everything you can to make sure we are not heard in the public square. And you call us fascists? You are the quintessence of fascism."
